Do you know what is 'umbilical cord' ?

Heck. How can you not know what an umbilical cord is. And you call yourself an APPLIED SCIENCE student. Shame on you. I can feel the shame too because you're my classmate.

I was about to laugh out loud in class really! Oh man, it's nice to have some entertainments in such a boring Biology class.

First, the father wouldn't have a baby because he does not have a female reproductive system. Second, I'm not sure if what I think is right, even the lecturer can't give an exact satisfactory answer. Any men who are undergoing cancer treatments, eg: chemotherapy, sperm production is sort of affected. It is believed that after the treatments, the sperm production might resume, however, it is not guaranteed.

"Umbilical cord is that string from the baby connected to the mother right?"

Hahahaha. What a funny way to describe an 'umbilical cord'.
